FN netting and commercial fishing are the main factors.
Some of the bars on the Fraser are littered with tje pinks they dont want.
The impact sport fishing has is a drop in the bucket compared to the legal.and illegal in river netting

What a messed up fishery. Brutal.
Certainly not what the constitution had in mind. Nothing ceremonial or social going on at the Fraser. Pink salmon cartwheel act is back in town.
start chucking bails of hay off every bridge on the fraser

One thing is certain, the guy with the rod and real is a drop in the ocean compared to what the commercial guys are doing to the salmon. We haven't had an open fishery in Lillooet for the rec sports fisherman since 2014. In 2015 they opened up a very brief Chinook fishery here. Sports fisherman spend a lot of money, but often get over looked in our area. I would have loved to get out and get one chinook this year, but no. Can't do it.
Saw some native gill drift boats and nets hammering them on Monday downstream from Ft. Langley. Also saw several sets of floats along the Fraser traveling last week through the canyon.
so for those saying the natives aren't fishing either ....... Wrong!
Not sure why fish farming gets a pass from you. Everyone else in the world that does it is losing their wild runs. All the runs above the influence of the farms are fine despite heavy commercial pressure. It's not necessary that the farmed fish escape to do damage (although that is a terrible consequence as well). The farms are a toxic biohazard sitting in constricted waters that wild salmon have to migrate through.
Pemby mess agree with you but for those fry to swim past the fish farms first their parents must actually reach the spawning grounds and not be intercepted in a gill or set net.
Another huge opening from the Canyon to the mouth. This should wipe out any returning early interior coho and steelhead and the sockeye they are so concerned about!!!!http://www-ops2.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fr...ningTimes.html
