    Re: Whats in your daypack

I have the following in my day pack while hunting.

    Hunting license and species tags
small tool roll with knife and sharpenig tools
    small quartering hatchet
    gps and spare batteries
    headlamp
gloves and a couple plastic bags, twist ties
    eye and electronic ear pro
    water and food/snacks
    small first aid kit
small tin of fire starting items plus backup lighter
    toilet paper
    smaller 7x35 binos
    small range finder
drag rope and some para cord
mora knife strapped to the outer side
    exrta wool gloves
    spare ammo
rain gear if in not already wearing it

If it's not hunting season, I won't have the knife roll or hunting license and tags and likely more water and food. If out for more of a longer hike I'll have more overnight gear like a tarp and bivy sac and I keep a thick wool blanket and more rope in my truck along with a bigger first aid kit, tools, dedicated truck flashlight, 20L gas can etc etc. I always have a flashlight in my pocket and a small fixed blade knife on my belt most times I'll have a shotgun either on me or in the truck. If I think about it I'll have my chainsaw in the truck as well.

Forgot compass...one of the best things about using a compass is it makes you more aware of your surroundings and landmarks etc...knowing natural navigation techniques is also beneficial...

See lots of people here with paracord in pack. Aside from building a shelter and hanging an animal - what other things you guys use it for?

Use it to braid belts, slings and stuff when lost waiting to be rescued.
