Caught a Kermode on my trail cam. Plus past few years of cam pics,lynx,moose etc.

Been working this spot for a couple of seasons now, and was surprised to see a Kermode pop up in this area.

Not sure what constitutes a Kermode bear, are there bears that are the colour in your photo that are not Kermode bears?

Thanks for the info, I also thought they were a coastal bear and like you surprised to see them so far inland. I would presume they will breed with non Kermode black bears, it will be interesting to see what pops up in your camera in the next few years.

That's just a really blond black bear. Not a kermode. You can see the darker colour on its feet. Kermodes are only found on the north coast.

Port Hardy? Never heard of them on the island

That's where it was, multiple sightings on the islands all the way up the inside passage as well.

Well Bella Coolla is north coast. Are you saying you have seen them on Vancouver island also ?

Yes south of port hardy. If Bella coola is in the bottom half of the province where does the the north coast start? Being from the north definitely don't consider it North coast but never given much thought to where the "line" would be.
