North Coast Timber Supply Area = Great Bear Rainforest
Kermode Black bear = Spirit Bear
Strait of Georgia = Salish Sea

More changes on the way ....

The Kermode is a sub species of the black bear. Apparently only 1 in 10 have the white colour phase due to the double recessive gene.

Im in elkford, 35min from southern Alberta. 5-6yrs ago I took pics of 2 white bear cubs in my parents back yard. One of them is actually in the Calgary zoo now.

Don't the regs say it's illegal to hunt a " white phase bear " ??

Yes it does. But what is white and what is blonde?
Go into a paint shop and ask for white paint.

Where does one draw the line?

I agree that they are not white bears but not sure if shooting one is worth the fight.
