The catch and release program is working well for steelhead up north. I have no numbers or links but after talking with guides, who many actually commercial fish on the side, it's my understanding that there is far more money generated in the sport fishing. Let the numbers come back, give all species of salmon come back for at least one cycle.

Lol...shut down mid August after 95% of the Springs have already moved through or been killed?
If there was a problem why was it shutdown at the end of the season.
Matt, barely any netting on the skeena last 4 months cause FN actually want to help the situation up there.
Why can't the same happen with our FN on the Fraser?

They have been netting heavy down here as usual, pretty damn sickening.

Steelhead down south have been catch and release for 20 years.

steelhead pops are posting all-time record lows.....

looking at these things in isolation or as silver bullets generally doesn't work.

So if people don't buy from them they won't have that much need to fish as much. Many like to slam the natives, but if the customer base ceases, things may improve all around.
Take a kid hunting its more rewarding than shooting an animal yourself!!
