Back country was the cheapest when I bought a swaro, but I was in the LML when I purchased the scope, went to Italian and they called Back country and matched their price, find the lowest price go to Italian and they will atleast match the price or beat it. Italian usually has good selection of Swaro's as well.

I haven't any experience with high end optics. Can a person shoot further and in lower light with a $2500 scope vs $500? Wouldn't that $2000 difference be better spent on mortgage, atv, resp, etc?

To answer the first question yes the glass is that much better. As for the money, well that's up to you.
