It's not just cams bears don't like, my buddy has a tree stand in one of our spots that keeps getting vandalized by a bear.

Here's one at wanted mine pretty bad. It was in a steel lock box and was protected pretty well. I would think that he was attracted to the smell I left on the camera.

Up until last year we didn't have much problems with bears.
    That changed in a hurry!
Lost 2 in 2 nights - same area, likely same bear (and yes, he is on the Hit List).

The last video this one ever took:

Going to have to go with lock boxes in that area now it seems...

Tie a plastic water bottle to a tree.....leave an empty chainsaw oil container......a plastic bag....bears will chew on it.
Anything made from plastic (petroleum based items) will get the attention of most bears.
Have had the synthetic coating on Boa cables chewed and yanked on. ( I don't use the supplied nylon strap )

I would say half my fleet of 20+ cams have been assaulted, some numerous times.
    Bears chew on cams.

    Re: Bears and Trail Cameras

I lost one cam. No sign of the cam, just claw marks on the tree. Two other cameras have been mauled. One just had had some cosmetic damage... the other got a tooth through the censor... still seems to work so I just put some scotch tape over the hole to keep moisture out.
