What size meat band saw would be suitable for doing moose?
Does anyone have any brands or specific saws they would recommend.
Thanks.

I found my bandsaw was more work to clean than it helped.
Do you know you want one from previous experience or do you think you need one, just curious.
I wouldn't even consider a band saw just for the fact that bone gives the meat a great deal of "game" taste. De-boning is the way to go.
The measure of a man is not how much power he has, it's how he wields it.
biro ,hobart are good brands. make sure they arent 3 phase. just dont buy those bandsaws with a grinder attached
we lost about half a bowl of ground meat due to metal filings coming off the grinder that was attached to our little band saw... we already had the main grinder going and thought we could speed up the grinding by getting a second one going...our group got a bigger saw last year but we are routinely cutting 6 or 8 deer and a moose or elk as well most years...we only use it for ribs and tbones as the rest is in roasts or ground....works great for making halibut steaks too...the dogs get the bones and we even save the grinder residue and use it to make meatballs then we freeze them for dog meatcicles..
A friend of my dad has one. We used it with my moose last year. It was phenomenal for cutting quarters into more manageable sizes, and for doing ribs, etc. Cleanup honestly didn't seem that bad, and I never noticed any off or gamey flavours from the bone. I just want to make sure that if we get one, it isn't too small to do a moose, since that is when I am going to want to use it most.
Anyone have any suggestions as where to buy one in BC (lower mainland or vancouver island preferably)???
