    Lightweight stoves or cooking devices...recommendations?

What are recommendations for a lightweight stove or cooking device for day trips into the bush? What works, doesnt work based on experience...

depends on how many your cooking for, and type of cooking. Just boiling water to add to dehydrated meals, jetboil is pretty good for that. but I found when cooking for more people or with a frying pan that a pocket rocket works better, flames are a little more spread out for a more even hot surface. never had a problem lighting my jetboil or rocket. both start reliably.

My 13 yr old daughter and I are hiking cathedral park from July 1st -4th I've been working on our menu plan and at first was going to bring my jetboil but am now going to bring my pocket rocket instead. For breakfast we will be frying up hasbrowns/bacon/peppers and onions so the jetboil won't be much help for this. Also if we caught a couple fish we can fry them as well, so for me the food is what dictates what stove to bring.

Gear junkies that I know who owned Jetboils bought MSR Reactors and ended up selling their JBs after trying the reactors.
    I've owned neither.

We've used an MSR reactor, and a whisper lite. I prefer the whisperlite, since you're not limited to boiling whatever like you are with the reactor. The reactor packs a lot nicer though!

The 1L reactor is amazing for two. Heats faster than jetboil and is bombproof but it is heavier. Both are really only meant to boil water. I sold my Jetboil and trying a soto windmaster with two Toak titanium cups this year.
