    success on gobbler

took a nice gobbler with longbow in South Dakota with friends..There were 5 of us and we 3 got birds. I used my original longbow I purchased many years ago and one fella took his with a selfbow and the other with a recurve. They were not responding to decoys and would gobble but not come in to calling. We set up in areas where they travelled and took them that way this year. My shot was 16 yards and the gobbler was not strutting . He is 20.5 lbs of great tablefare . Bow was 62 # yew reflex/deflex longbow . Arrows were cedar with woodsman 3 blade. I tried posting the photo but got frustrated as it says the photo is too large ?

going to go out here in BC for turkey and taking my brother from Alberta for turkey but will likley use an old blackpowder double barrell and take a bow as back up if it is wet. I hunt almost exclusively with traditional bows but enjoy the blackpowder guns and ruger #1 rifles occaisionally

Right on good shooting, I have never had the chance to hunt these birds. But I bet they are tasty

Nice turk man. Always wondered what the meat is like. Is there light and dark meat on wild ones too?
