    Going for Grizz

buddy has a Grizzly draw N of Revelstoke, and Ill be looking for a nice colour phase black bear, were heading out in a couple weeks. this will be snowshoe/backpacking hunt. looking at either bringing a siltarp or my Stratospire 1 without nest for a shelter, we will likely see chilly temps but have a good bag so not to worried. i figure we should bring a distress call to use for trying to call bears in the more open country (hearing trying these calls in thick brush could get interesting very quickly so not recommended which makes sense). looking for any tricks of the trade etc for hunting grizz if you have some. If i find a small enough NDP banner I may bring this as I would love to send a pic of us beside a dead Grizz with their logo beside it and us giving the bird to the camera...Pretty stoked for the hunt as its been a looong winter lol

    Cheers, Rob

You think bears will key onto a protein menu so early? Never hurts to try

Had a B Bear curious about a fawn distress call last year, but didn't come in
    just wondering what you had
Will be trying it again this year, hoping for better results. When all else fails, as they say

It works for black bears. Easy groceries are always keyed in on, just be prepared for how fast and hot they show up.

The ones that get real interesting are the bears you don't know about that sneak up behind you well you are watching the bear you started calling in front of you. When you turn around to see a bear less than 10 yards away that your not expecting it can wake you up in a hurry lol

I have only called black bear and use a fawn in distress. One of my hunting partner uses a rabbit in distress

That's when you realize how fast they can actually move. Before you know it, they're on top of you.

May sound silly but try bawling like a bear. Not much elk or deer in some of that thick rain forest shyte, but good bear country. May be hard to find open areas. Try smashing and thrashing bushes and breaking branches too. Boars get pissed off and come looking. Good luck...I got a draw for 4-34.
