    Wood Ducks

Our Wood Duck nesting project is in full swing now and results are happening earlier than last year!
We put out trail cams on some of the nests and use cell phones to take interior pictures.

Great to see. I've had a pair around my pond for years now, just need a new box as the winter took it out. Do you have proper dimensions for me?

Ours are on the small side. Just 8" wide sides.
Buddy got plans off the internet, then we scrounge up plywood scraps and pass them to Pitt Meadows Secondays where the students build most of our boxes!
We have close to 70 out now.
Just do a search for Wood duck box plans and you'll see plenty of options. Pick one easy to clean out.
We'll be replacing a lot of ours with cedar boxes next year and ease of cleaning will be a big factor on what plan we use.

Sounds good. Mine was looking ratty a few years back now, but they didn't mind.

Well Dano, I was inspired by your post. Went out to the shop tonight and built a new nesting box and will install tomorrow. Hopefully not too late.

That's great! I'm hoping the ones placed along the highway between Maple Ridge and Mission have some birds in them this year.
