    Antler Mount

Finally got some antlers mounted and hung. I didn't really like the backing boards that are common, but I found a bit of arbutus around and was pretty pleased with the results. The wood is finished with 1 coat of boiled linseed oil.

Nice. Love live edge, both with/without bark.

The woods great, hate the sawed off skull look. Sorry. I mount a lot of antlers and build a form of wood and plaster, shaped and covered with leather or felt. Lots of dicking around but really nice finished product.

Ya I thought I would take more flack for the bone than I did, but I don't like the look of the covering either. I'm not into dressing things up into something they re not. However I am going to clean up the moose cap a little more. The structure of the bone with the sutures and curves have just as much figure as the wood imo. Just another thing to look at and part of the whole package.

Thanks for the constructive comment though; far better than just saying you don't like it.

Love it! Makes me want to change out my old particle board cheap stuff. did you have to kiln dry the wood?
