    geese defeathering

    ...they taste much better with the skin on and all the fat remaining behind it. But it so much work to pluck !!!.....Does anybody know of a service that does such thing for as fee?

    ^ What he said. Parowax and boiling water after you pluck the flight feathers. Always works great for me.

    Yes, I have done it....
    I butcher my animals by myself and take pride and pleasure in doing so, but when it comes to plucking 5+ geese.... ...It is a lot of work/plucking!!!....so I started looking for other ways of getting around it.

    I've never seen it in BC, but in Alberta most of the Hutterite colonies will pluck and clean your birds for a reasonable price.

    Could try a chicken plucker. Never done a goose but we raised lots of meat chickens. Works really good and you can rent them.

    You need a "motherplucker". If you don't want to eat the skin don't worry about all the pin feathers and once cooked discard the skin.
