+1 and besides, it's only a guitar case if one uses it as such. Guitar, gun whatever.

TransLink also says no guns. I don't think they could charge you but they could boot you off the bus or train. That said, I do not believe a guitar case, golf club bag is legally different than a regular rifle case.

Pretty sure TransLink and BC Transit policy is just that... rules on how to behave on their property (ie: no food or drink)

    Re: Guns and transit?

I emailed BC Ferries for their explanation as to why they allow walk ons to carry guns on northern routes but not southern. A lot of BS that doesn't make sense.

    Thank you for your email.

Foot passengers aboard Northern Routes are only able to transport firearms under the following conditions:

    • Firearms must be unloaded
    • Each firearm must be contained in a locked gun case identified with the name of the passenger
    • Ammunition must be contained in a separate locked case from the firearm, identified with the name of the passenger

Upon checking in, foot passengers transporting firearms must arrive to the terminal at least 2 hours prior to the scheduled sailing time, and must identify themselves to the ticket agent upon arrival and state they will be transporting firearms. The ticket agent will then inform the vessel and confirm that a firearms locker is available. Upon loading the vessel, a designated officer will escort foot passengers transporting firearms to the firearms lockers before vehicle or passenger loading begins. The officer will secure each passenger's firearms and ammunition in individual lockers. Upon the vessel's arrival at the destination port, a designated vessel officer will meet the passengers at the firearms locker after all other vehicle and passenger traffic have disembarked. The officer will then return each passenger's firearms and ammunition.

Foot passengers aboard our Southern Routes are not permitted to transport firearms - due to Firearms Acquisition Certificates (FAC) regulations, they cannot be transported in BC Ferries luggage carts, and we do not have the facilities aboard to store them. As safety is our number one priority, at this time we cannot introduce the same program for foot passengers traveling with firearms on these routes.

I hope this information helps - I appreciate the opportunity to clarify our policies with you.

    Kind regards,

    Ellen
