This past year has been one of growth for the Society. We came off a record breaking fundraiser last March enabling us to fund several important projects around the province as well as laying the ground work for big projects in the coming year. Thanks to Robbie Englot and member volunteers we initiated our first Northern Fundraiser in Dawson Creek which sold out in a matter of hours and promises to be an annual event in the North and a big help for thinhorn sheep. In partnership with the BC Wildlife Federation several of our Directors kicked off the Jurassic Classic Fishing Tournament which cleared $15,000 for wild sheep projects in BC. We also secured a much anticipated dream Desert Sheep Hunt for our biggest single fundraising raffle ever. And, we were able to further the wild/domestic issue by helping to start a provincial testing program for M. Ovi in domestic sheep.
The WSSBC board has been feverishly ramping up our Kamloops fundraiser, we will be adjusting the format of this year’s Convention to begin Friday at 1:00 pm with workshops designed for the new and the experienced sheep hunter. Later we will host the always popular Friday Night Fun Night with hunt and gear raffles, cash bar and new entertainment and competitions. Saturday will be a full day beginning with the Life Member's Breakfast hosted by Dave Heitsman and the WSSBC AGM where members can give input and ask questions about Society functions. Saturday afternoon we will be hosting the 1st Annual Dave Marsh Memorial Shoot at the Kamloops Rod and Gun Club which is guaranteed to be a great time! Brenton Froehlich from Gunwerks will be on hand to run a shooting clinic as well as a long range competition, a big thanks to Jason Earl for organizing this shoot. Register fast because this event will sell out! There will also be guest speakers through Saturday afternoon. Saturday night at 4:30 we will open the banquet doors on what will be our biggest fundraiser yet with new hunt raffles, great gear and a full auction as well as the drawing of both of the Wild Sheep Raffles for the Roosevelt Elk Hunt and the Desert Sheep Hunt.
