    Giant? More like a mammoth! Great story, thanks for sharing. Not sure I'll say the same missing an oppurtuntity on a stud buck cause I will be wondering 'what the heck is he staring at?' Just to see a fat doe staring at me while he slips away HA. Sets the bar higher than I thought possible fer round here...
    The only advantage to a light rifle is it's weight, all other advantages go to the heavier rifle..

    Awesome thanks for the read. One can only aspire that the day will come when something of that magnitude can be found. I hope the constant grinding and trying to learn as much as possible while being out allows me to capture a few opportunities at creatures of that caliber in my lifetime. Stories like this and books from true backwood/high country hunters are what fuel the fire for me!

    Wow! You're all class man, I could feel the respect held for that animal. Thats an overwhelming feeling to sit there with a true giant. What a buck and a great read too!

    A very well written story and that buck is incredible...thanks for posting...I will always be glad to have been part of a friends hunt for a 242 inch mule deer...a day I never will forget....thanks again
