Anyone use kool-aid to dye feathers? Did some a couple days ago..trying to figure out how permenent the dye is?
Have to wait a few days to resume tying..Susan tossed some small feathers out I was saving...figures..lol
Tough when your so far away from quality tying supply stores..Surplus Herbies selection isn't great..

I always set everything that I dye with vinegar, even Kool-Aid.

Food colouring should work, but as speycaster said, a mordant (usually an acid but there are others) is required in order to cause the dye to "set"; otherwise it would eventually just rinse out.
They'll never end hunting...may make it illegal, but they'll never really kill that way of life!

I have only used RITE dye....works great
if people of color do it, it's "affirmative action" "civil rights", etc, etc. If a bunch of white folks do it....its "racist" and "hate speech" quote Willyqbc

X2 on the RIT dyes, works well readily available.
Even comes with directions! ��
