I'm going elk hunting in alberta and wondered if by purchasing an alberta hunting license and elk tag and filling it,does this eliminate my opertunity in BC or can a person also harvest an animal here ...... Not sure

Each province has its own bag limits. Wild game is provincially regulated not federally
Thanks for your reply, so i take that as i could take one bull in alberta as three point or better are open there. And 1 in BC as its three or better and cows in an open area.
The only interprovincial "Bag Limit" is one Resident Licence per year.
2 elk sounds like a lot of meat and luck but go for it..
hope you have the freezer space.
What about a leap year? To qualify as a resident you are supposed to live in a province for 6 months plus a day (183 days). In a leap year there are 366 days, so technically you could live in BC and Alberta for 183 days each...
The first 6 months of the year are normally 181 days, in a leap year 182. I can't see how 6 months plus a day times by 2 is possible.
Now if you are RCMP or Military I think it is possible to be a resident in 2 provinces in a year.
