    mine is the stainless classic (with wood) and also the one I use 99% of the time...last year my hunting partner lost his clip while crossing a river in the dark so I lent him my m70 and used my back-up Rem 783...between the bolt flopping open even with the safety on, trigger being too light and it feeling like aiming a baseball bat, I sure was reminded how nice the m70 is!

    I shoot a pre 1964 CRF Model 70 in 30-06. It has served me very well for many years with 0 issues.

    I'm looking for date of manufacture of my model 70 . I didn't see it on the PDF posted. # is G

    just checked another M70 that I have that was made in 1999. Serial # is G2226xxx, so they obviously just kept going with the numbers

    this blurb was on this site...you may be able to figure it out from the notes others have written there

    Your M 70 was Manufactured in 1988.

    Thanks, much appreciated. I knew I was the second owner as I bought it from the original owner, whom was a good friend of mine back on the prairie's. So many questions I wish I would of asked him about the rifle and now I can't.
