    Advertising?

Started a thread in the gear section to let everyone know about a big sale at a chain. Let people know the types of deals I got. Thread is gone.

Presumably deleted for being considered advertising. Is that what it was?

If so, just so you know, I don't give a hoot about the store. Just thought getting an InReach for $233 was worth sharing with the membership.

I didnt go to uni to sell tents...

    Yup, no advertising

For my reference (and I'm not being a dick...I really want to know...as I pay attention to sales and like to pass info on when I see it), what is considered "advertising"?

    Re: Advertising?

If any of the site sponsors sell the same, or similar products as someone notes in a post, it is considered advertising. Pork sale on at Thrifty's is not advertising.

Gotcha, so because Nechako (for example), sells camping equipment, the part about the tent for 25% off because advertising, right?

And I'm super sad...the Thrifty Foods right by my house just closed. Now we're just left with Superstore and the ghetto'est Safeway in the area. Lame.

    Re: Advertising?

    Basic guidelines on advertising are:

Don't advertise your commercial enterprise without permission

Don't advertise someone else commercial enterprise without permission. And this includes sales at businesses that could be considered our sponsors competitors.

    Don't be a shill.

While it's still advertising, like WB said, generally nobody really cares if you mention a pork sale at Thriftys.

Gotcha. Guess I'll just brag that I got a great price and leave it at that!
