If you buy a used saw. Take a compression tester with you. I bought my MS170 for $150. Almost new. This is the story. This saw was run on straight gasoline. So the guy seized the motor. No warranty for that. Now the second saw. Guy goes out to cut wood. Places saw behind truck. Had to move truck. Runs it over. No warranty. The guy I bought it off of made one out of two. The only thing I have changed. I put metal dogs on it. I do not like plastic ones. I put two on my MS271. Each side of the bar.

Best way to check a saw is to pull the muffler of, if its big job to do walk away.....a Stihl is 2 maybe 3 screws. look for any marks on the piston between the top Ruing and the top of the piston, any marks on the skirt is showing abuse

Okay, nearly brand new (returned after use) Husky 445 for about $300 all in.

Sounds good to me, but maybe I'm missing something?

Should do you proud AG. Feed it good gas and mix(Husky XP) and you should get a lot of years of service out of it.
