I think he was standing at his tripod and camera looking at the river when that bear quietly approached and 'surprised' him. He was not in a position to reach for his shotgun as that would have been an aggressive move towards the bear... the bear was really sniffing the river air... probably recognizing some bears down there... he kept his cool and so did the bear... the bear really didn't have an interest in him...Originally Posted by calvin L

Hmmm maybe not so relaxed on the bears part ,, did notice the yawn...a sign of stress..also bear licked his lips..notice the bits of white flecking on those lips...happens when bear is stressed..
Granted its a high stress situation at these falls fighting for good fishing locations..and then catching those fish that truly mean life to them.
