Enjoyed the videos. Something we don't see much of.

Kudos to you for taking all that trouble and effort to get them back to your kitchen and then fillet them without ending up in MGH. Only a diehard and true sportsman goes to those efforts for an invasive species. Glad they tasted good making it all worthwhile.

Nice! Looks like you got it down like scientist! Although with the clean up crew in the ocean I wouldn't feel bad leavin em float....I'm sure you'd be feeding something easier to clean..lol

    Video played just fine.
When I was diving in Cuba the dive master said the same thing. They are invasive and must be killed. Yet here at the pet store we can pay $80 for one of them.

Now that they are established, there is really nothing recreational divers can do, except maybe limit their numbers around common dive sites. These fish live well below the dive limit of 130ft, so it's not like we can get rid of them now.
Im just glad they are good to eat

They have been reported as far north as Rhode Island and New York.
That is the same latitude as Oregon.

Glad to see more people getting on to this. Lionfish are very detrimental to the reef environment in Atlantic waters. When I was working in Haiti in 2010 I spent most of my free time shooting buckets full of them for the locals, and teaching them how to clip off the toxic spines. They would routinely catch them in nets and traps, but always throw them overboard as "poisonous".

We have a place in Paamul, it's north of Porta and south of Playa

Here is a bit of a look, it was a busy long weekend when I shot this little clip, normally there is nobody there on the beach, or in the pool.

Here is a Drones Eye View of Paamul. When we are there, our friends have a nice 22ft Zodiac Type boar with twin 175's tied right behind the red Sailboat. The Drone does not go over the Dive Shop, but you can see the dive boat up the beach. Like I mentioned, our place is right behind it.

They are a problem in the BVI too, but I had no idea there were so many of them in Yucatan.

I've yet to see one in the BVI. Might be because I typically snorkel and don't see anything much deeper than 50'.

    Nasty buggers.
