    Moose LEH , 5-15c

    Hello
We got a group LEH moose draw for area 5-15c, sept 15-31.we are all fairly new hunters and this is our first moose hunt. Never even been in this area before. Wondering if anyone is familiar with this area and could pass along a bit advise on a good area to try. I've Been told that our dates are a little early? We plan on being There sept 18. Not looking for anyone's special spot, just a general area to start. I know we will have to put in some time scouting and getting to know the area, but we really don't have a lot of time.
    thx

Just so you know the bridge across the cariboo river at the start of the 8400rd out of likely will be out for 2 months starting sept 8. you will have to go through wells on the 3100 to get into most of the unit.

On the hunting side there are a fair number of moose there just gain some elevation. look for the swampy areas.

    Hi
oh thanks a lot! We were planning on going in from Likley. Have to look at the map to find the other road.
Yeah I was talking to a guy the other day at a local sports store and he suggested going up higher if it's warm.
    Thanks for the info
    much

    Hi
is the river slow moving? Could you use a small outboard and a 14' aluminum Lund boat? Or do you need a flat bottom river boat?

    thx

Hope for rain or the boat will be scraping bottom a lot. Find some swamps and get to an elevated spot and watch. Being a dry year they will be around/near water. Learn to do the cow moose call!!

buddy had a can with a string for cow moose calling...you put a hole in the center of the bottom of the can put a string through it...tie a knot in each end...wet the string and squeeze it with your thumb and fingers as you pull down...sounds pretty good and easy to do...
