[35 Whelen]

Came upon this nice bear on one of the passes near my home a couple of weeks ago. Wasn't intimidated at all by the presence of me and the truck. Nervous popping its jaw as it watched us. I got the impression it was more interested in what was off the side of the highway than me. Perhaps a road kill or some cubs.

Based on the looks of this bear, I am inclined to think it's a sow. What do you think?

Smallish head, slender neck, and dainty feet. I'd say sow.

Front ankles look like a for sure sign of a sow. Narrows down right before paws

My guess based on that one picture is boar. But it's a dark pic and I can't fully make out the muzzle.
