    Hairless moose

Seen a hairless moose today up near Terrace mountain burn. Other than a 2x2 patch on her side she was completely bald. Kinda looked like one of those mexican hairless cats. Grey wrinkled skin. I wonder if this is a tick or some parasite issue? We kinda joked and i said it was a chupacabra lol but i really do feel sorry for her and hope she makes it.

Crazy I've never seen a moose like that around there before...could it have shed its winter coat and just looked like it had no hair?

Ticks. They try to rub them off. They look like a ghost. There are some vids on YouTube on it. I am up at the cabin, Otherwise I would post a vid. Somethings a cell phone will not do.

Rubbing off ticks, rubs off hair at same time. Fairly common to see moose like this at this time of the year. As long as there are no freezeing temps, it'll survive and it can get into water & drown off the ticks. Sometimes the moose will die if it gets too run down, from rubbing insteadof eating.
