Hi all, is there a place around Kamloops that will keep game meat cool while we continue our hunt? Not really looking for butchering service, but only to hang and cool for a few days. I'd appreciate any info. Thanks.

Kamloops like most places will have places that may hang only, but for all the time I've been running this list. I find the cutters that will hang game only charge near as much as they do to cut the meat in the first place. They only have so many hooks. You may just want to get your game cut? At least it will be packed and frozen with no meat loss.

I've cut my own for years and shudder to think I'd need to pay the going rate to get an animal cut, but I'd rather that than loose one to this heat!

Thanks for the info, and for the informative thread Steeleco.

So any recommended places to get game meat cut and packed in/around Kamloops?

Why do you shudder at the cost of having a butcher cut your meat? Yes a butcher only has so many hooks and so many corners to put a deer in. Why should a business owner take a loss to hang only? Meat cutting is a trade, as is plumbing, electrical work, mechanics. People are willing to pay a decent wage for most trades but not for meat cutting. This is why we will find fewer and fewer meat cutters as the years progress. There is just not enough money in it for most to make a decent living.

I hear cost's of up to $1/lb and in many cases minimums in the $100 range. Between the few buddies and my kids that we cut and wrap for, I've saved enough to buy lts more guns LOL

I don't begrudge the trades guys for making a living, I am one!! but I'm fussy and somewhat of a control freak!! I've the space and a cooler, it's not hard at all.

The good cutters we had in the LML that I did use in the day all quit/retired. What's left is lean and overworked, the quality can't be that good at the peak of the season!
