    your favorite sheep pack

Looking at a new frame pack. I have the badlands ox but doubt that its very good for a sheep hunt and i find it uncomfortable on long hauls. Just looking around the kuiu packs caught my eye but would love to hear some personal favorites on brand and size for a 10-12 day sheep hunt.

There are a lot of used kuiu packs for sale, don't have any experience with them but that seems to be a bit of a warning sign to me. I just picked up a MR 6500, look forward to chasing some goats/ elk with it!

I've been happy with my Kifaru timberline. It's the internal frame version. Not too heavy and all the room you need for an extended backpack hunt. Hunted with a few folks using various versions of the Kuiu pack, and they are okay but seem a bit "delicate".

MR 7500, used a buddies on a 7 day hunt. Liked it quite a bit, just picked up myself a MR 6500, with the day pack lid so its close to the same cubes. Got the metcalf along with it and so far have liked it for the time ive had it on hiking. Lighter which i will use for most of my hunts but ten plus sheep hunts definitely the 6500. The other frame packs ive heard about quite a bit are the Barney frames with the pinnacle bags.

Been using wilderness wanderer for over 20 years now, this is my second one. NOTHING packs a heavy load like them. This 1 has probably had close to 75 sheep, moose and caribou in it. Tried a packers Barney once and felt sorry for him when we switched back. What I hate about soft frames…. back is always wet with sweat…..no posts to hang the rifle and binos or other packs lol…..dont freestand.

I've been using a Wilderness Wanderer since 1988. Its hauled more than a few tons of critters out of the hills. Has always done the job very well. Only thing might make it better, would be one of those nice Barney's bags on the WW frame.
