Re: Ask your LEH questions here...

Well, I received a little surprise in the mail the other day. Even though I'm nearly 100% sure I didn't put in for the spring draw, I received an authorization for a grizzly hunt in an area that has 1/1 odds. Has anyone ever heard of people getting authorization without applying? My only though is, when I applied for the fall hunt in this area (didn't get it) I wrote the wrong hunting code in there and accidentally put the spring hunt code. Oh well, I'm happy with it!

    Hi all;

Newbie here to LEH. I know I have to send in my Shared Moose Hunt in the same envelope, but I'm curious about the rest of me and buddies LEH cards. Can I send the rest of them in a single envelope (without the "shared/group" tag in the bottom left corner) to be entered into the draws as singles? The regs don't specify either way, but in an earlier post from a couple years ago someone said it was in the regs - I'm not seeing it anymore.

    Thanks

    Can draws be entered online?
Or only by sending in cards?

    Edit:

    Found my answer: NO

it says to print your name in capital letters...will they toss out your card if you don't? Its all legible, and I would assume that the name is just to ensure there are no mistakes in the hunter number. Do I need to rip open all my envelopes and reprint them all in capitals? 26 cards worth...that would suck

I would think as long as the name and hunter numbers is readable you will be okay. I seem to do the same thing every year as well and have still been drawn.

Re: Ask your LEH questions here...

    Hello,

This Being my first year ever hunting, I have a couple of questions for all you fine people!

1.) When looking at the odds for the different hunt codes, what is better to put down as your first choise, one with great odds, or one with medium odds?

For example, one code shows odds of say 4.5-1 vs a boardering MU (similar area) with odds that are say 15-1.

Because the 4.5-1 odds are way better, wouldn't more people put in for that LEH and actually make it harder to get drawn than the 15-1 in the end?

Do the odds drastically change from year to year / cycle to cycle?

2.) There are 6 hunters. We all want to hunt/camp together in a specific hunt code (elk) with odds around 7-1. What's better, 6 individual LEH's or 2 group hunts of three LEH's?

    Much appreciated!

    Cheers,

    Jay

Odds change from year to year so don't really mean much. Higher odds usually mean that it's a popular draw.

    Hello

Are you able to apply for the Peace region 7 LEH elk and the Van Island region 1 LEH elk in the same year?

    hey duidery
    page 3 of the leh

    One Application per Species
An applicant may only enter one application
per LEH species in one calendar year,
regardless of the class of the animal. The
exception to this regulation is for an
applicant that applied for a Grizzly Bear
and/or Skeena Mountain Sheep in the spring
draw. This applicant may apply for either (or
both) of these species in the fall LEH draw
providing that they did NOT receive an LEH
authorization for that species in the spring
    draw

so one LEH per species per year = you get one area to try
