Some news- HBC has been getting invaded by some sort of spammer. The website guy has been working on it, and is continuing to do so.

It really boggels the mind, what would a spammer have to gain by invading this website other than ticking a lot of people off!

Hoping to upgrade to a faster and bigger server this week, HuntingBC has again outgrown its server and needs to move to a bigger home.

    Thanks for your patience.

I noticed the delay when the sponsors banner is loading. As soon as it loads everything else pops up on screen quickly. It is probably a gif base with some corrupt or large downloads.
I hate flashing gifs for this reason.

As a website hosting company owner, I know vbulletin can be tuned to run much faster. I assume you've had someone do some tuning before paying for more server? Not that servers are terribly expensive, but a properly tuned software makes a big difference in performance.

I noticed that it pauses until the sponsor banner loads as well, then everything comes through.

Seems like that script is timing out... either an outbound connection or dns resolution timeout... could even be on the sponsor side.

You sure that it's outgrown the server? What is the load average?

And is bottle neck memory, cpu or disk IO?

    Possibly just needs some tuning.

Could fix up browser cache to reduce requests and speed up repeat visits perhaps.

Could look into varnish, memcache, apc. Maybe switch to mariadb or percona. Seen all of them work very well with vbulletin.

Perhaps a small alternative webserver for static content?

But it's all just guesses without any info...

Averaging 12-15 second page loads for me though, in port moody on shaw. 2 second time to first byte as well, which is not good.
