Lots of coho off sooke right now(retention goes up October1)Halibut has been good too, some compensation for the failure of the August run of springs.

One wild ,three hatchery retention. The biggest challange is finding clipped coho,we must have released a dozen 'wild'(unclipped hatchery)and I don't know how many more we lost.No point wasting bait, army truck hoochies with a big single barbless hook work just as well. But if it keeps raining,I think they will run through pretty quickly,we might get another week or two

After such a great day on Friday,we headed out Monday morning anticipating more ...but they were gone, not a single strike.same place, same gear, same depths, but they were gone, and we packed it in as the wind came up fast.Guess the rain got them moving....oh well ,winter springs should start to show pretty soon

Where's all the pics? Some of us haven't had the good fortune to be able to fish the chuck for a few years.

The good news is the coho are back, the bad news is it looks like the rain has sent them on to the rivers.Winter springs should be showing up though...
