This past weekend I ran into a ruffly 10 grouse, only got one of them, but shot and hit all of them..... I tried using blunts, snaros, and field points. Should you only go head shots on grouse or are there some other arrow tips I could try??

the best one i have used is called the adder,, you screw your field point through it into the shaft,, best by far .. others will say that the judo is good too, but i have lost way to many birds after a direct hit with the judo tips.
Oh thanks I'll check those out

I've had good luck with the G5 small game head , but also blunts and even beer caps with a hole in the middle and a field tip.
This may surprise you but shot placement is key for effectively killing grouse. Head shots of course. Otherwise wait until the bird is facing away and hit him in the back just below the neck. Right between the shoulders.
If they are sideways, aim high, otherwise you will only get breast tissue and no organs and the bird flies away to die later.
Next time you clean a grouse, check the placement of the organs compared to the bulk of the body.
I harvest carrots. I kill animals.
Try these:
Magnus Bullheads - http://www.magnusbroadheads.com/categories/Bullheads/
Flying Arrow "Tom Bomb" - http://flyingarrowarcheryusa.com/pro...th-chisel-tip/
Pay attention to the different weights.
These work well on grouse. I aim to put the point just below the head. But make sure you have a decent background, like a dirt bank or road surface. Otherwise it may turn into a very expensive shot.
I just use a broadhead. One of my slicktricks that I dont bother sharpening. Used to lose grouse when I used adders and blunts and small game heads... havent lost one since.

The Judo points that SSS shows in his post I found best. I have felt that head shots are best. Since I moved to a compound bow for hunting (from a recurve) I don't shoot grouse. I feel the compound bows rely on speed rather than weight of the arrow and when shooting a grouse, as you are finding, the faster lighter arrow just blows right through them. With the recurve there is more weight in the arrow to knock that bird down. But, either Judos, or broadheads and always head shots were most successful.
