    Opening of Youth Grouse hunting

I took the daughter our yesterday in search of a buck, but none were to be found. We did run into about 40 grouse. She had a blast, was able to recover from missing her first one to bag six for the day. It took her a box of shotgun shells to get it done, but it was well worth the experience. She is also so proud of herself, where she actually got 2 birds with one shot. Although she is slow to mention it took 7 shots to get those three birds.

I defintly going to have to up the shot size to 6 as the 410 did not have enough punch with 7 1/2 once the shots got out there a little bit.

Overall it was a great father daughter day, that will soon come to a end as her siblings are coming of age.

Awesome way to get them started. Try a #5 shot for grouse, has a good grouping so not a lot of pellets in the breast

I shot the #6 or#4 in the 3" and rarely miss a grouse , I tried some 71/2 's and also did ok but had to adjust my aim as I try not to get any shot in the body .
Cant wait to get a few this year myself !

I am going to stick with 2 3/4 with her to start, that little gun has a surprising kick to it.

Around here Region 8 is the only option.
