I prefer helical as there is better vane to shaft contact, especially on thin shafts. Straight should not be use for broad heads but will give you a down range speed/trajectory advantage for 3D.

I use 2 inch blazers with a 3 degree right helical.

    Some more info here http://www.huntersfriend.com/carbon_..._chapter_4.htm

Depending on the rest you have on your bow. I shoot a drop away.

I love building my arrows with a very aggressive right hang helical. People cliam that is slows the arrows down. I have done a lot of shooting and I find it to be such minor difference at 50 yards it's not anything to worry about. I do def find tighter groups and much much much better broadhead flight. Just my two cents.

Usimg a whisker biscuit or enclosed rest will blow out with a hard helical.

Thanks for the info. I went with the rh offset. Might try a couple helical on some blazer vanes. I'm using 4" vanes right now.
Seems great. My broad heads fly perfectly

Re: Straight, rh offset and 3 degree helical

I've tried helical and straight fletched arrows, and found the fletching doesn't affect the group sizes as much as the actual arrow quality does. Recently I fletched some X-weaves with 2" blazers on a 3 degree helical just as an experiment, and noticed almost no difference out to 60 yards. However, after buying some new Easton Bowfires, my tolerances increased and my group sizes shrunk dramatically. This is all personal preference, but I'll be keeping my fletching jig at home until I want to shoot heavy, fixed broad heads.
