    sheep hunting

    Hi all,

    Have a question for you:

Where do you guys usually go for a sheep hunting during GOS in province?
been around Kamloops, lots of sheep but haven't seem any legal ram... or they just break their horns..
What would be a good area to have a look for legal ram?

It’s GOS for a reason and that means you will glass a lot of sheep before you see a legal one. Not a lot of sheep so you have to get out often and just keep glassing. Region 3 or 4 in my mind are the same. You are going to go out a lots and rarely see a legal ram.

Hunting sheep in the south is not like hunting for stones up north. I have been in the sheep hunting game for like 25 years and have never heard of someone going to region 3 or 4 on their first sheep hunt and connecting in a GOS season. But have read a lot of stories here on HBC of rookies going for stones and connecting. So if you are looking to get a ram head north. Being down here you can at least hunt sheep every weekend where if you go up north it’s usually one trip a year but it will be for a least a week most likely.

OR.... you can start hitting the southern GOS for sheep, and start a lifelong love/hate relationship. The learning curve is steep but man what a lot of fun and beautiful country to see.

There is a group of guys from R4 that are consistently knocking down rams year after year in the GOS. Aren't shy about posting their stuff on social media either.

It can be done but requires a significant investment of time, effort and some thinking outside the box.
