On my way to BC

Hey all, I am new to the BC Hunting site and am looking for some info. I am planning on moving from Northern Alberta to Vernon BC, I love to hunt I just don't know much about the area. Any info that anyone is willing to share on both bird and big game would be awesome.

Unfortunately you have to live in BC for 6 months before you can get your license. So big game will be off the tables for this year but you can hunt small game and birds before then. Use the time to figure the area out and you will have your hunter number just in time for the LEH draw in 2015.

No better way to learn the area then beating it with your feet. Any suggestions where a guy could start, that would be manageable for kids?

So it looks like I'm Vernon bound in two weeks, a few months then originally planed. Just wondering if there is a range in the area, and a place to practice some skeet?

Vernon F&G has a great new rifle/handgun range , skeet would have to be Armstrong or Lumby though within a short drive.
