I use the Exped Ibis for mild temps and the Exped Waterbloc 1200 when it's really cold. They are great bags. 900 fill down, waterproof and breathable. The seams are welded so no water can get in through the stitching. I dropped one in a lake one afternoon and it floated away. I retrieved it after about 10 minutes and slept in it that night warm and dry. Nice to know when you are in the middle of no where. Never had a problem with the zippers. They pack up small in a compression bag and are light.
I'll buy another taiga works when the one I have goes. Good enough.
Take a look at the Marmot Plasma. Great bag. Don't forget a good sleeping pad as well.
montbell super spiral. stretches with your body, doesnt feel constricting. wouldent buy anything else.
I have a custom Taiga Down bag out of vancouver - its a barrel bag - i bouight it years ago and it has being excellent quality - it was about $400.00 at the time - Does nobody-anybody like the TAIGA STUFF OR ?? RJ
I have a Montbell for warmer temps and a Western Mountaineering for up to -15. Both great bags, I'm only a tad over 6' tall but I'm much more comfy in a long bag.
thanks for the info now I have some names to look up,
was hoping to spend less then $300
Whatever you do end up doing, if it doesnt come with a compression bag, get one. Shrinks my bag down significantly more compared to the stock bag
