    how to determin brace height

I have had an older recurve bow for a lot of years. I got it second hand and the fella who sold it to me said he had replaced the string. I have a feeling the brace height might be a little too high, it is currently at about 8”. I have been unsuccessful in finding a manufacturers mark on it only the name “target master” and the information that it is 42# @ 28” AMO 64”. Anybody out there know the bow and/or how to determine the designed brace height ? Thanks.... D

Re: how to determin brace height

Hey yahk stalker , I suggest you start with a 7.5 in brace height . Then have some one shoot your bow and you watch the amount of vibration (and associated noise) that occurrs in the limbs after the arrow is launched . Keep twisting the string to heighten the brace height to a point where the vibration and noise is minimal . That should be 8 to 9 in on most bows .
    Cheers
