Hoping to find at least find his sheds. I tracked him for quite a while yesterday as there aren't that many deer up there but eventually I lost him in other deer tracks.
It's a good excuse to burn some blubber this winter.
SSS
I love seeing these records of these old guys, thanks for sharing SSS! I hope to watch our boys grow and flourish on our property as well.
I don't want to hi-jack, but is there a reliable source you guys can recommend on aging whitetails? My guy I got this year I could swear was at least 5, but after inspecting his teeth against a few online sources, it seems he's more likely 3-4(?). it was my first ever deer, so I took a ton of photos of the entire process, including teeth during my euro mount prep. Any advice would be amazing, thanks!
I don't think there is a way after a certain age (9-10 ?) . I sent a tooth in ( tooth for the truth) when I got a 6x6 WT some years ago and the response was 9+ years
I hear ya, would just be cool to know approx age. I figure my guy had been through his share of fights and ladies, so it's time for the next generation to take over. Only 2 days after I harvested my big guy, we caught a nice 3X3 on the TC, and he's still around (he was even on the TC about an hour after I shot my buck!!) Makes me pretty happy to let him have his chance with all these does now.

^^^^Wicked pics folks...it's amazing how hard those older WT bucks are to hunt when they get a bit of evading experience..
