Newbie Question Regarding Minimum Shotgun Caliber for Deer
Looking into hunting on the gulf islands I noticed that they are shotgun only, due to the no discharge of rifle laws. In the hunting regulations on page 16 it states for deer when using shotguns "Shot gun must have a bore size of 20 gauge or larger and use shells of shot size No. 1 buck or larger." Now the deer over there are quite small and I have a .410 shotgun, that can use slugs. The islands are not a shot only area, would it be allowed to use slugs in a shotgun to hunt deer with or does the 20 gauge minimum still apply even to single projectile?

That's what I figured... Was hoping it would be the other way given technically you can used a 17 hornet for a moose but I understand they have to draw the line somewhere.
