SRKW South Fraser River Salmon Closure being considered
Heads up, looks like they are considering closing the South Fraser Arm out front to Salmon Fishing due to our precious SRKW.
There is a survey to be taken for all those interested.
Look up Pacific Anglers Facebook site, to get more info for those of you interested.
Couldn’t get the direct link of survey to copy/paste.
Re: SRKW South Fraser River Salmon Closure being considered
If its will protect the fish stocks than I'm all for it. But I'm not that naive. Across the board banning of ALL nets anywhere inside Georgia straight all the way to the spawning grounds and they may just have a chance. But I know better!!
Re: SRKW South Fraser River Salmon Closure being considered
This is about the SRKW and sport anglers out on the ocean out front of the South Fraser.
Last year they completely closed an area off limit to sportfishing out front of the north arm for whale feed protection.
Also, in the questionnaire, it asks about expanding or lengthening closures in many places, like along the west coast,
I believe even expanding the swiftsure bank etc.
So, anybody with a salmon fishing interest should take a look and participate.
I wish it was about nets across the river.

Done. Weeks ago.
However: "DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 19th/2023"
Re: SRKW South Fraser River Salmon Closure being considered
I presume this would mean banning all the nets across the river? And, other unrestricted decimation of the resource....
