Walking sticks converted to tripod?
So, I'm trying not to let being old and fat get in the way of a sheep hunt this August so I'm researching lightweight products.
The carbon fiber tripod I bought 6 years ago for my Tuchodi trip is neither light nor compact.
It strikes me that somebody must manufacture a tripod that converts to walking sticks, or vice versa. When you are using the tripod, you don't need the sticks.
Has anybody seen such a beast?

You can buy cascade mountain trekking poles on Amazon, they weigh about 1lb. Get a lightweight tripod and youre set. For shooting use your backpack or loop the wrist straps on the trekking poles around each other for shooting sticks.

I bought the Cascade poles off Costco.ca. They are great, but redundant in a way if I can use legs off my tripod instead of carrying a tripod and trekking poles.
Splitting hairs, for sure. Less than a pound difference probably.

I like the look of the Field Optics Research one I posted the link for. Two of the tripod's legs unscrew and convert to walking sticks. They are a bit heavier than I would like for walking sticks but they have the right idea for sure.

I just fabricated a ball joint 1/4 male thread onto my trekking pole - then I can use it for glassing and as a shooting rest (fabricated with female 1/4 thread). I think you can buy trekking poles with a ball that covers the 1/4 thread.
But I think you are looking for a bit more support that a single pole provides when glassing
Re: Walking sticks converted to tripod?
I ordered the field optics research tripod and bog pod rifle rest from the states last week, so hopefully won't be toooo long to arrive.
I like the light weight, combo of sticks and the usable height, folding compact features, max weight use combined with a decent price point.
Yes it will be used for spotting, then shooting from. Should work out great.
