Cherry Lake near Cranbrook
So, I received some advice from a long standing Member here, and we are going to try our luck this fall for Elk in the Cherry Lake area, south east of Cranbrook. Region 4-3
Does anyone know of that area has been logged in the last few years? I tried Googling it,, nothing remotely related to logging comes up. Google Earths imagery is from 1985, and shows tons of cutblocks that I must assume are grown in thick now. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance
Re: Cherry Lake near Cranbrook
Logging in the area has been pretty active in the last five years
Re: Cherry Lake near Cranbrook
Cherry Lake was extensively logged after the 1000 hectare fire in 2015, but the regrowth has been tremendous.

Awesome Guys, I hoping that was the case,,thanks

Cut blocks are great, find one with a good slope and a hidden part that no one sees from the roads and landings. In a dry hot year look for north slope bedding areas above the blocks. Duly note that the cranbrook area is heavily hunted by locals and traveling sportsmen. The elk population is 1/4 of what is was in the 2000s. You will have to work for it. Happy hunting.

Hopefully they get that new fire under control in that area. They just placed a restriction of some of the area around there.
