Bear recovery the next day? I'm 8n the situation real time
Hey everyone,
Got what I thought was a good clean shot at about 95 yards at a decent black bear with my .7mm Rem Mag this evening. I feel like I hit him good but he didn't go down and instead went crashing into the deep bush. I can't see myself missing this shot so I have to keep looking, but I've been at it for a couple hours and have injured my leg. It's light again in 4 hours. If I rest up and then hit it again will the meat already be ruined? Either way I will be doing everything I can to locate this bear. Any advice or thoughts welcomed that are constructive. Thanks

You'll be fine, best to find him before the heat of the day or the birds will be showing you where to go. Best of luck

There are so many great success stories on this site. I appreciate all of the motivation and encouragement that they bring. This, however, is not one of them. After 6 hours of searching and no hair or blood found I am calling it. It doesn't make any sense, but I must have missed. Thus is something I have not experienced. And it doesn't add up for me. He took off like a rocket, crashed for a few seconds and then total silence. Maybe he buried himself in deadfall but I crawled over and under and everywhere in between. I pray I just missed and he is living it up elsewhere. I absolutely hate this feeling

Get a dog on a leash to help find it

Check the rifle for accuracy and go back in a few days. He may be back.
