Pheasants on V.I

Hi all,

I want to get into pheasant hunting with my son and daughter here on Vancouver Island. Does anyone know how good hunting pheasants or some other upland game is here on the island is. Any help would be absolutley great.

Pheasant populations are not good here on central van isle.most of the habitiat is on private farm land,too rural,too may houses,development,etc.I have seen a few in my day ,but not the numbers that would warrant an eventful day of shooting.The grouse took a beating in the spring with alot of wet weather and cold.I have beat the hills looking for birds,and all numbers are down.Saw one hen with 3 chicks,and a few singles.It will come back,the grouse,it always does,depending on the spring weather and temp.Not sure 'bout pheasants down south isle?There is a pheasant/chukar club just outsdie of Parksville.Took the nephews there,they had a blast,a little too "tame" for me though.

I've been to the Phesant Club on the Island lots of time. It is sooooo much fun. You can also hunt chuckers that are really fast and get twice the shooting. Yes as some say a canned hunt but so what. :D

Does anyone know if there’s a pheasant club still in operation on Vancouver Island? Used to be one in Bowser, but no website.

I've hunted there a number of times over the years. Its a great spot to hunt. Big fields, good people running it, and a great place to get you and your dog some practice.
