Maybe its time for a tent.
What ultra light tents are people using.
I have been always pitching a tarp gor my alpine hunts. My hunting partner has been harassing me to get a tent but i quite like some of the conveniences of a tarp.
I should at least look into it. So what tent and why?

Mountain hardware..ultralight.

Re: Maybe its time for a tent.
Nemo Dagger or MSR Hubba Hubba NX - both pretty slick. Might sell the MSR and get a Seek Outside Cimarron with a stove though.
Also have a Moutainsmith Mountain Shelter LT which is good for spiking out. Uses trekking poles to pitch. Think it’s only 2 lbs.

Hubba Hubba Hey let me know how that stove works and the Seek . i like that too . looks good lots of utube vids on it
Re: Maybe its time for a tent.
Spent a good chunk of change on this Big Agnes.
At 2.7 lbs awesome for backpacking..
Love the built in led lights!

Re: Maybe its time for a tent.
Well im liking the seek outside products. The option of a stove is the big hook for me.
Re: Maybe its time for a tent.
ya i want to know more too . who doesnt like a stove that breaks down and you can pack . any heat is nice !. lol
Re: Maybe its time for a tent.
$649 wow you can buy a lot of tarps for that money. Retired, fixed income doesn't afford those luxuries.
Re: Maybe its time for a tent.
Tigrr im not trying to justify the price but when you compare it to other ultralight options you will quickly see the price is good for the amount of available room. But i agree the $$ makes me think a tarp isn't that bad. Im hoping something like this will extend my stays in the alpine. The snow is often flying by sept 10 up top and somtimes it there to stay. Its usually the weather that pushes me out or prevents me from going.
Re: Maybe its time for a tent.
I hear ya. How much does the stove weigh? 5 inches of snow and how to you get fuel? Carry it up too.
My mountain climbing days are behind me!!
