Need help catching a thief and a prick
It would be appreciated if anyone has any information regarding the theft of a trail camera from the 51 mile mark of the G-main near the Elaho River.
The prick crossed the trench on an ATV that was dug across the road at 50.5 mile (the no motorized vehicle mark) and stole the trail cam that was set up by the local wildlife biologist over a dead moose that a grizzly was feeding on. The barbed wire around the alders to catch the fur for DNA sampling and the proximity to the side of the road might have tipped anyone of average intelligence off that this was more than just a scouting location. The thief cut down the alder that the camera was locked on and made off with not just the camera but pictures it may have contained that would aid in valuable monitoring of the valley's Grizzlies.
As you may imagine, the MoE doesn't have unlimited resources and the loss of this camera is a big deal.
Any information regarding someone illegally travelling beyond this trench on an ATV over the weekend could be passed on to the local CO or PM'd to me and I will forward it to the proper authorities.

There's always one... good luck, hopefully someone saw something.
Re: Need help catching a thief and a prick
this sucks.
should have had a seperate trailcam set up at the the no-vehicle line.
that way they could always see who's breaking the rules.

Ask the guide in the area...
Re: Need help catching a thief and a prick
Where would this guy have off-loaded the quad? Not being familiar with the area I'm wondering if there is a spot where people usually offload to go riding there. Is this a popular spot to go riding? Maybe someone saw the truck and could describe it. With a description, the CO could check the local gas stations to see if the guy fuelled his quad before going out. If he paid with a credit card or the vehicle plate is on surveillance the CO would have him.
Re: Need help catching a thief and a prick
That's totally wrong and this person needs some Karma to visit him or her. Really stupid a hole.
Jel .. Sorry to hear this --
Re: Need help catching a thief and a prick
i would imagine they offloaded near the hydro station, but there are a few spots out that way he/she could have used.
Re: Need help catching a thief and a prick
MOE or Joe Blow, putting cameras out in the bush is dicey.Way too many lowlifes .
Re: Need help catching a thief and a prick
Better chance of having the pictures surface on the internet then finding the camera
Re: Need help catching a thief and a prick
Most likely off loaded the ATVs at the bridge or shops. Sorry...... but start by looking at anyone asking about the snow level and access up the Elaho lately.
