Re: Some B.C. salmon runs face 'meaningful chance of extinction' after landslide
IMO this entire mess is a result of Mismanagement by DFO and their manage to Zero mandate along with several governments past and present that continue to fail the fishery. Year after year. East coast and West.
This along with the Kill nets and unregulated fishing by a special group ........ or those that dont care about their or the fishes future and use the courts to avoid accountability.
Way to go DFO.
Just remember........ this slide occued last Fall. DFO did NOTHING until June. Hasnt that worked well.

Well it sounds like the Govt is prepared to spend money on the project to remove the blockage but.......What can Indigenious people do to clear the material ...That is a very sketchy solution ...Surely our armed forces could blow up the blockage and call it a practice ...Don't tell me that the Govt needs First Nations approval ....I hope they would give it and get the hell out of the way ...Dennis

Re: Some B.C. salmon runs face 'meaningful chance of extinction' after landslide
Lets be honest they face extension from being harvested at the river mouth on their way to reproducing. Sold in the lower mainland for $12 to $15 a fish for springs, steelhead and sockeye. Fish don't have a chance when greed is involved. I used to be able to fish in the Fraser river and now cannot fish there any more. Simply because it is cleaned out down stream by the stewards of the land.

$12 is expensive for trunk salmon.
