Buying a license is not hunters/fishermen opening their wallets because they are trying to help fish/wildlife it’s is a legal requirement to fish/hunt. Even if you focused all the $ generated in BC by hunting/fishing licenses it would be peanuts compared to what is being generated in the US. Yes they have more people but they also generate funds beyond licenses
Bugle M In if FN issues in BC have you that down where your not willing to invest in the things you enjoy maybe it’s time to pull the pin let it burn. Do as I did and move where treaty’s are farther along and there is less FN issues
Can’t expect change if you’re not willing to invest in making it happen. One of the many reasons I left BC is I don’t see people willing to put in the effort to improve issues in BC. I would actually be happy if I was proven wrong
Re: Americans are way ahead of us
I feel as though I/We open our wallets enough in terms of taxes, icbc and general cost of living here. There were a few years I forked out $50k just in income tax alone. $1600/year insurance for an 05’ GMC?!!! $1.90/litre for marked boat gas on the salt chuck?! It never ends. It’s not that we are not contributing enough as is, it’s just not being spent in the proper places. Not much more poop to squeeze out our blue collar nickels imo...

Maybe some people are contributing several peoples share while others aren’t contributing at all or very little.
Too many people on the socialist tit will sink this ship.
Re: Americans are way ahead of us
Yup BC stands for bring cash and another example why I left. Already seeing a difference in experiences in only a week
It does not change the fact if BC hunters/fishermen want to see funding for fish/wildlife it needs to come from somewhere and demanding it from government is not going to do it. Life’s expenses maybe high but if you want to see the $ and effort you see put into fish/wildlife like the US it comes at a cost

I disagree. Proper management goes a long ways. Hatchery enhancement is not cheap, but if done properly with tax cash we are already giving up it would pay for itself and then some...

It’s possible in theory butI have not seen past or present government jumping up offering that tax cash and focusing on proper management with it
We are seeing hunting orgs flirting with anti orgs for the very reason government funding is not happening and neither is proper management
Re: Americans are way ahead of us
Wild one,
I hear you about moving elsewhere.
Also, it's not that I don't want to contribute money to help with conservation of all wildlife etc.
I just feel like we could do everything right, put our money towards it etc.
But, in the end, the FN get first dibs and sometimes may be the only one getting dibs with the way we now have written the laws.
I know it's sounds self serving and not what is best for the salmon.
But for Christ's sakes, much of what I do in my life is for my family.
Why do it if my family will never be allowed to use it.
Maybe it's time they start dishing out cash back to us to "also contribute".
Anyways, the FN isn't the only issue for these problems, so I am not going to make them the scapegoat about how the problems came about.
Only bringing it up because we pay for stuff we are no longer allowed to enjoy due to "classification".
Just another point of how it is getting harder to work together because of how it is all set up now.

"Nearly 90% of the world’s marine fish stocks are now fully exploited, overexploited or depleted....overexploitation of fish stocks, overcapacity of fishing fleets... scourge of illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing."
No Idea what "socialist" means. US contributes more public tax money to public resources than any nation on earth. The problem is greed rampantly out of control across all "isms". The planetary wrecking ball human population growth and prices willing to be paid for seafood means lobbyists control fishing in reality not laws. Start putting them and the bought off bureaucrats in jail might be a good start. A finite planet infinitely depleted is a dog that don't hunt. Duterte has it right: "Duterte orders navy to fire on foreign poachers in Philippine waters ... also start sinking poaching boats in a way that would encourage the ... etc"

And the US has taxes for direct purpose of generating funds for fish/wildlife. This is something many here scream “I pay enough” when it is suggested Canada do the same
